Smiths News PLC recognises that effective environmental management is an important aspect of good business practice. The policy is designed to make clear our approach to environmental management within the Company.
Our Policy is to:
· Work to reduce adverse environmental impacts arising from our activities, including a reduction in our carbon footprint.
· Minimise waste by ensuring operations are as efficient as possible.
· Meet or exceed all environmental legislation that relates to the Company.
· Set clear environmental targets and publish the results to stakeholders.
Approach
Our approach to meeting the criteria as set out in the Policy is as follows:
· Ensure environmental issues are considered in our strategy and throughout the decision making process.
· Set realistic and challenging targets and monitor our performance against these.
· Ensure clear lines of accountability and encourage staff to take pride in energy management.
· Report on the following areas:
- Energy usage
- Total carbon footprint
- Recycling
- Waste and packaging
- Other areas as applicable to business developments
· Actively encourage recycling and raise environmental awareness through effective communication and support.
· Work with our business partners to progress environmental initiatives within our supply chains.
· The Board will review Policy and performance on at least an annual basis.
The implementation of this policy is the responsibility of the Operations Director, Graeme Underhill, who is also tasked with keeping the Board advised on performance and compliance with the Policy and ensuring that suitable support in available to the Business.
