Apprentice Scheme
Candidates on the Smiths News apprentice scheme are chosen on merit and overall potential to rise through the ranks. Over the course of 18 months each apprentice spends seven weeks learning about the day/night pack operation, newspaper and magazine returns, stock cage management, transportation and customer services.
After 12 month’s assessment, successful candidates will attain an NVQ Level 2 Apprenticeship in warehouse and storage.
Ambitious Jade Ilyas, 17, is currently the youngest trainee on our apprentice scheme. Jade started with us in the customer service team. She enjoyed working in a busy environment and was eager for more responsibility. Her organisational and people management skills caught the warehouse manager’s attention, who recommended her for an apprenticeship. Jade is well on her way to achieving a managerial position one day. She said: "Working in a fast-moving business is great. I’m extremely excited about my career and the future."
