Monthlies Make Independent Retailers Money!

Smiths News and Marketforce joined forces in Spring 2007 to launch a sales initiative to help boost sales of monthly magazines within independent retailers. The "Monthlies Make Money" initiative involved a host of major monthly publications distributed by Marketforce, across the Womens Lifestyle, Women's Practical and Home Interest segments.

The promotion, which ran from Spring until the end of the summer last year involved retailers receiving extra copies of the promoted titles and guidance on how to increase sales.

The sales results are very positive. The independent retailers involved with the "Monthlies Make Money" initiative, during a six-month period, on average increased sales by 16.5% compared to the same period last year. This equates to an additional RSV for independent retailers of £85,000. This is even more significant as national trends for the same period were down.
