Smiths News have been named a finalist in the prestigious West of England Business Awards 2011, sponsored by PwC.
Smiths News wins West Midlands Region National Training Award 2010
The Smiths News Apprentice Scheme was judged as 'outstanding' and awarded the West Midlands National Training Award 2010 on 21 October. The award was presented at a ceremony at Birmingham Town Hall. The application focused on Smiths News apprentices at Wednesbury depot.
Smiths News PLC is awarded the Carbon Trust Standard
Smiths News PLC has been awarded the Carbon Trust Standard after taking action on climate change by measuring, managing and reducing its carbon emissions by over 6%. By achieving the Carbon Trust Standard, Smiths News PLC joins a list of over 400 other companies in the UK that have been certified and recognised for their commitment to carbon reduction.
Severnside Recycling Awards 2010
Smiths News Newport Depot is the recipient of Severnside Recycling's Champions Award for 2010. These awards are given to individuals and organisations who have achieved excellence in sustainable recycling and waste management, through working with Severnside.
Government quality mark for workplace giving
Smiths News has been awarded the Governments quality mark for its Workplace Giving scheme. The Bronze Quality Mark is awarded to organisations that offer, and actively promote Workplace Giving to their employees.
ACE Press Awards 2010

Wholesaler of the Year
Smiths News' Reading depot has been awarded the National Federation of Retail Newsagents Wholesaler of the Year award. The NFRN's new award structure means that individual depots are rewarded for providing the best service and support to independent retailers. Smiths News' Bolton and Wednesbury depots were positioned 2nd and 3rd. October 20 2009

PLC Awards
After only our second full year as an independent plc, we were shortlisted in the final four for the PLC Awards Best Investor Communication Award. This was a great achievement in such a short period of time. We were shortlisted because of our interactive online version of the annual report. It offers unique functionality, some aspects of which were not seen in the FTSE 500.
BookSeller Retail Awards
Bertrams Books was the winner of The Nielsen BookNet Supply Chain Initiative of the Year in the 2007 BookSeller Retail Awards. In the 2008 BookSeller Retail Awards, Bertams Books won the IBS BookMaster Supply Chain Initiative of the Year.
