Presented by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) at an awards ceremony held in Birmingham last week, the prestigious awards demonstrate the Company’s dedication to fostering a safe working environment across its businesses.

Among the winners, Smiths News’ Milton Keynes and Hemel Hempstead distribution centres achieved a gold standard for the first time. And as well as its eight individual awards, Smiths News also received a separate business award for its success across the multiple sites.

The tenth gold award was achieved by Tuffnells Leighton Buzzard, its first ever externally-verified health and safety award and also a first of its kind for the Tuffnells brand.

Commenting on the awards, Jon Bunting said:

“Two years ago, Smiths News won four golds at the RoSPA awards and we were thrilled with the result. Now, after continued investment and a commitment to health and safety standards, we have now achieved an incredible 10 gold standards across our brands, something we are very proud of.

“At Connect Group, the safety and wellbeing of our co-workers, and those at all of our locations is paramount to us, and these awards recognise the changes we are putting in place to ensure that continues.”

Jon added:

“Whilst this is a great achievement for Connect Group, we still recognise that health and safety is always changing, and so we must always adapt. Our progress is clear, and we will continue striving to achieve even more.”
