Connect News & Media donates £2000 to the Amber Foundation
Yesterday, Managing Director Jonathan Bunting presented a cheque to one of the charity’s residential centres in Surrey.
This is the second time Connect News & Media (which Smiths News is part of) has donated to the charity – in December it contributed £300 from its Pass My Parcel business. The latest donation was raised from the Company’s staff engagement survey, after pledging to make a contribution for every survey completed by their employees. The good engagement result enabled Connect News & Media to make the healthy donation to the Amber Foundation.
Jonathan and HR Director, Deborah Preston, travelled to Surrey to present the cheque this week.
The Amber Foundation is a small charity that works with homeless, unemployed young people – many of whom have complex histories involving crime, drug and alcohol abuse and mental health issues. The charity has three residential centres in Surrey, Devon and Wiltshire which helps 200 young people each year. Ben, a former resident at the Foundation, explained how the Foundation helped to turn his life around:
“It’s charities like Amber that really allow people to change their lives – thank you Amber for not giving up on me and helping me find the right path. It’s a truly wonderful charity.”
