Smiths News shortlisted for award at this year’s NMAs
Smiths News has been shortlisted for the Sustainability Strategy of the Year award at this year's ACE Newspaper and Magazine Awards (NMA), for its pioneering introduction of electronic point of sale (EPoS) based returns.
Now in its 70th year, the NMAs celebrates achievements within the publishing industry. This year more than ever before, it is celebrating the resilience of the industry and its ability to adapt and innovate to meet challenges across the whole supply chain.
Simon Gage, Commercial Director at Smiths News, explained: "We're delighted to have been shortlisted for this award, which heralds the brand or organisation that has strode forward with the most serious, rigorous and practical sustainability strategy.
“This year, in conjunction with Marketforce, Frontline, Menzies Distribution and Rascal Systems, we introduced EPoS based returns to help normalise management of the magazine category for large retailers. This not only enables retailers to benefit from significant cost efficiencies but also provides significant benefits for publishers and distributors too. Indeed, there will be few innovations this year that benefit so many participants in the supply chain, with such a significant and lasting impact on all our futures."
The winners are set to be announced at a virtual awards ceremony on 4 June.
