Smiths News wins at RoSPA Awards

Smiths News is delighted to be celebrating another great year at the annual RoSPA Occupational Health & Safety Awards.

This year, we entered a record number of sites into the awards – 11 in total – all of which have been recognised in the Occupational Health & Safety achievement category. This celebrates an organisation's overall health and safety performance, and commitment to safety policies and procedures, during the period of 1 January 2020 to 31 December 2020.

Congratulations to our sites in Hemel Hempstead, Hornsey, Nottingham, Birmingham, London Travel News (LTN), Newport, Bristol, Newcastle and Stockport, who achieved Gold Awards; and to Liverpool and Southampton, who were awarded Silver.

Lynsey Tulloch, Head of Health and Safety at Smiths News, said: "This is a really incredible achievement and I would like to say a huge congratulations to everyone at all our sites that have received this accolade. It shows that we are working hard to ensure our staff, clients and contractors get home safely to their families at the end of every working day.

"This year's awards are particularly well deserved because the sites are being recognised for their stringent health and safety procedures at a time when they have never been more crucial – during the pandemic. Well done everyone."

Organisations receiving a RoSPA Award are recognised as being world leaders in health and safety practice.

Julia Small, RoSPA’s achievements director, said: “The RoSPA Awards scheme is the longest-running of its kind in the UK, but it receives entries from nearly 2,000 organisations across the globe, making it one of the most sought-after achievement awards for health and safety worldwide.

“RoSPA is very proud of the achievements of its entrants, and with this award we recognise the best of the best, those organisations that have gone the extra mile, raising the bar for the delivery of safety in the workplace. Employees, wherever they may be should be able to go to work safe in the knowledge that they will return home unharmed and healthy at the end of every day. Our RoSPA Award winners are central to achieving this goal. By entering they are driving up standards and setting new safety benchmarks for organisations across the world.”

A live Virtual Awards Ceremony is being held on Thursday 9 September.
